Hermit Thrush
We had rain all night that changed to snow this morning - but blessedly left us with only a skiff of snow to show for it. Pretty, but no problem - the best kind of snow. And as I was busy shooting pics of birds coming in to stuff their beaks, who should appear but my favorite winter pal - the hermit thrush! Woo hoo!
Meanwhile, I learned from my birding guru today that a female cardinal gets darker and darker red bits as she ages - increase in testosterone = more red. So the extra is a pretty mature female northern cardinal.
