Hooray…

For lamb Henry!

Mr A is working tomorrow until late, so we’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day today.

After a decent lie in, we had a bit of a mooch round a few shops before heading off for Sunday lunch.

I’d booked us a table at a place a few of my former colleagues raved about and I’ve been meaning to visit for ages.
It’s called the Emmott Arms in a little place called Laneshawbridge (just past Colne for those of you in my neck of the woods) and was well worth saving my syns for!

We both had French onion soup for starter; absolutely delicious and inspired me to make some for us at home next time I’m busting myself in the kitchen.

For the main event, we had the lamb Henry. OMG, it was an absolute plateful and the flavour combinations of the veg alone were amazing. From the puréed carrot and swede, to the braised red cabbage; coupled with cauliflower cheese (which Mr A doesn’t usually like but he ate this one) and roasted parsnip. Plus a quinelle of creamy mashed potato and garlic and rosemary roasties. Yum!!
As tempting as the dessert menu was (finally a restaurant that still does proper custard rather than ice cream) we were both well and truly stuffed.

We are notoriously critical when eating out, but this place was a firm 10/10 for both food and service. My only grumble was the price of my glass of soda water…£1.50! :-0
