Grimsby 3 Aldershot 1

Lets get the football out of the way first.  We were rubbish again and were comprehensively beaten.  

On the plus side, Gary and I (football aside) had a great day.  After an exceptional breakfast in a small cafe (after we had spent 40 minutes walking through the town trying to find somewhere that was open - three had huge signs up saying they should be open but weren't), we went to the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.  This is one of the best museums that I have been to and after wandering around the museum for an hour we had a guided tour of the Ross Tiger, a trawler from the 1960s.  Bob, our guide had been her skipper before she was retired so was able to tell us what life was really like.  We then caught a bus (the number 3 if you're interested) and found a pub where we settled in, and spent a couple of hours chatting with the local fans - who were all as awesome as the museum.  We then went into the cold for a wasted couple of hours before making our way back to pub, and then a curry before falling asleep before 10.00.  

We felt there were a lot of similarities between Grimsby and Aldershot.  Both had one dominant employer - fishing versus the army, and both declined very quickly, leaving the town in a difficult position.  Grimsby town looks (like Aldershot) very decayed and in need of some money to help it redevelop, but the people were fabulous and we had a brilliant time.
