Treasure Hunt at Claremont NT Gardens
This morning we took the grandchildren to Claremont Gardens and found that there was a treasure hunt trail to get clues to find out who was the first owner of the gardens and house.
There were 8 stations around the gardens and at each there was information about the part of the garden you were in, plus a letter to enter on the chart we were given. This was quite a simple trail for children aged about 4-8 , with a bit of help from parents to read the info. The answer is VANBURGH…see extra. He was the architect of Blenheim Palace and began to develop the Claremont Estate for his personal use in 1709.
The main photo is looking up at the amphitheatre which is 300 years old as built in 1722. It is three acres and was built to enjoy/the views across the lake and countryside.
