Druridge Bay

Day 3 of our winter break, and the last day.

Another nice breakfast and then we packed up to travel north.  It was another good sunny day, but the wind forecast for the coast was very strong, so we were not sure how things would go.

We travelled to Cresswell where we were starting the walk, and the wind was gusting at 50mph.  As the walk was mainly on the beach, some of us opted out of doing that.  The walkers who did it said it was like walking in a sandstorm.

The rest of us travelled with the coach to the proposed end of the walk at Hadston Visitor Centre.  We then did a shorter walk on a country pathway down to the beach, also very strong wind, but at least we did manage it.

Hadston Visitor Centre has a take away cafe, so we all had some food there, and then back on the coach to travel back to Scotland.  We had arranged for a meal at the golf course centre at North Berwick, and it was nice to have a break there and a good meal.  Great views of the Bass Rock lit up by the setting sun.

And then our final journey home.  Arthur our coach driver is one of the best, and we made very good time.

It was a very successful break, with no complaints at all.  The walks were well organised, and adjusted when necessary.  The hotel was corporate but suited our needs very well.  The staff were friendly and efficient.  The meals were fine, breakfast were very good, dinner was acceptable, not the best I have ever had but not the worst either.

I would highly recommend Durham, and the north east generally, a very pleasant part of the UK.
