The Old Lifeboat Station

Just along the beach from us is an area known as Fisherman's Landing, still used for fishing boats as they come and go from the sea. And here is what was once Hythe Lifeboat Station. This photo shows the original building built in 1893. (The extra photo was taken in  1930 when a new lifeboat was presented to the crew.) This building is now a wonderful fish (and many other things) shop where we went this morning to buy . . . fish.

In 1940 there was a big addition made to the Station - I didn't include this in this photo - it is to the right of the picture. This part is now a popular café, where we also went this morning . . . for lunch.
