Sinuous
The spaniel and I normally follow Warningore Bostal, the steep chalk path heading up to Blackcap. Today we chose the more sinuous path that meanders more gradually up the north facing escarpment slope. It emerges from a cloak of hazel coppice at a point midway between Blackcap and Mount Harry. Then it was over the Downs and down into Ashcombe Bottom which, I recently learned, used to be called 'Bocholt' as it had an abundance of beech ('boc' being the Saxon for beech).
