Heriot Watt University, Riccarton

We went to Heriot Watt's Riccarton site on the west of the City for two reasons; to check out the Oriam Parkrun route and to see "China Through the Lens of John Thomson" photography exhibition.

The Parkrun is a beautiful route through the woods surrounding the campus although it's fairly undulating and muddy in parts!  Maureen's keen to go soon, I might prefer to wait a couple of months.

The exhibition is a fabulous collection of black and white photographs taken by John Thomson between 1862 and 1872.  He was one of the first photographers to travel to the Far East and returned to Britain with over 600 images of the people, the landscape and the culture.
