Laetitia....The Roman Goddess of Gaiety

This golden statue graces the top of The New Wimbledon Theatre and is also known as the theatre's angel. An original feature back in 1910, she is holding a laurel crown as a symbol of celebration. The statue was removed in World War II as it was thought to be a direction device for German bombers. It was replaced in 1991.
