A calm place
A small seat invites a passerby to stop and reflect on the running waters of the North Tyne in Wark. There are photos in existence of the river without the island in the centre of the photo but shingle washed down in winter rains have built up and it wasn’t long before vegetation grew and now we have trees. When the rains come the river level is well above ground level on the island. The little seat is never covered but the river will run to the left of it in flood. There is never a dull moment living near a river.
