Winter jasmine
It's yellow but - I think - clearly the yellow of February. Cool, and isolated.
Quite different to the yellows that will come later. The cheery yellow of the daffodils and tulips in March and April, spring in their step. The golden yellows of calendula and courgette later, brimming with produce. The glowing yellows of rudbeckia and helenium, warm even as autumn arrives.
But this yellow - winter jasmine - is as welcome as them all.
