Repairing the fruit cage
Repairing is probably not the right word, sorting it out might be more accurate.
A cross beam, two joined together rather than one length, had rotted at the join. The correct thing to do would have been to take it out and replace it. I did not have a suitable piece of wood so instead I soaked the old wood in wood hardener, cable tied the two together a tightly as I could and then screwed another bit of wood along about half the length of the original. I also used a prop, as can be seen in the picture, to support the cross beam.
Probably not right, probably not a good or lasting repair but it worked. Now I can go back to clearing, cleaning, digging and replanting the fruit cage. Maybe strawberries for tea this year
