What A Surprise
You might remember what I said about "seamless and transparent" software changes "where you hit the ground running" but you never do, and the changes are never seamless and never transparent.
That was my Monday.
I was given access to 2 new applications that were going to revolutionise the way I work...
This happens a lot in IT. Pretty much every year. Some new product is Flavour Of The Month and lots of - how can I say this politely? - Managers get really excited and start wittering on about how we going to collaborate/get agile/be on the bleeding edge.
So I'm a pilot user for Microsoft teams which they have rolled out so seamlessly and transparently that it starts but I can do nothing with it. Click on the Chat button to start a Chat with colleagues!!! Guess who doesn't have a Chat button? Join this <name redacted> team to get all the latest info. I searched for it - nothing to be found. Checked the Intranet - nothing there either.
Found a link in an E-Mail clicked on it - 404 Page not found.
This is really a revolution. Maybe it's like esoteric buddhism where you have to stare at the thing that does nothing until enlightenment hits you.
I suspect not.
This particular Flavour Of The Month tastes a lot like <Very Bad Word>.
I'm not a cynical man but I can recognise a pile of <Very Bad Word> when I see one.
