Another old timepiece

This gold pocket watch belonged to my paternal grandfather and was presented to him over a hundred years ago by folk from the local community when he left for Canada. This was in 1921 after the lease of the land that he farmed came to an end and rather than renewing the lease, he decided to try his luck on the other side of the Atlantic, leaving my grandmother and his young son (my father) here on Mull until he found work. Thankfully, he could not settle and returned home to Scotland, which is very fortunate for me because my parents would never have met and so I would not have been born if my grandmother and his son had joined my grandfather in Canada.
