A Good News/Bad News Day

Sunny with a high of 36 deg F and low of 32 deg F. Hubby was out the door by 6:30 am to help with the Knights’ breakfast. This was a special one. Our retired priest, who is in the nursing home, turned 88 this week. Arrangements were made to bring him to 7:00 am Mass and then have the parish greet him for breakfast, Irish songs and a birthday cake. Hubby said Father was so happy to be there. I stayed home and got ready for our day out. Each year, the University of Maryland Basketball teams invite the Southern MD eighth grade Catholic school basketball players to watch a game and then play on their court. My son coached the kids that made up Parker’s team. They had a lot of fun. Most of the fans were on our side of the arena for the kids’ game; my photos make the place look empty. The MD girls beat Nebraska and my son’s team won as well. Parker made some great baskets and defensive plays. At home, my sister and BIL took our mother to watch Mancil’s team that also won. Mancil scored 11 points and got 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, Brooklyn had an outdoor travel soccer game in the freezing weather and the team lost their game. Hubby and I enjoyed dinner at a diner near the college. On the way home, I found out our mother fell twice today trying to get up the outside steps. She caught herself the first time with my sister but fell against the house the second time with our cousin. She bruised her arm and cut her knee; our cousin is a nurse so she must have felt confident Momma is okay or we would have gotten a call. Momma promised to call me when she’s in bed safely. Hubby is taking her for a blood test at 8:00 am so he can check her injuries. After this worry and being in heavy traffic for several hours today, I need a Tylenol and good night’s rest.
