The Rock Orchestra
We went to our first gig in aaaaaaaages tonight, it’s nice to have ringing ears again!
It’s Laura’s birthday today too, thankfully she’s feeling better (though still not 100%) and is very much looking forward to the unicorn Angel Delight we got her.
We got tickets to see the Rock Orchestra a few months ago; it was something a bit different and the fact it fell on Laura’s birthday was a bonus.
It was a good night and the orchestra was great; nice to hear good old fashioned rock music played orchestrally. There was a vocalist too for some of the tracks, but we felt he wasn’t needed.
The musicians were all dressed in ‘Day of the dead’ costumes and the candlelight was a nice touch too.
I was particularly impressed by a guy in the wind section who played piccolo, flute and oboe, though not all at the same time. That really would have been impressive!
Every gig we ever go to, I always have a giant stand in front of me and block the view, so I made sure for this one we had front row seats. Randomly, part way through the show, some woman decided she would wander right up to the stage and stand there. Yup, you guessed it….directly in front of me.
More annoying than that, was the woman behind us. Clearly having the time of her life (good on her) but her constant yells of ‘wooooo’ made her sound like (as Steve expertly called it) a demented ambulance. Lol!!
It was all done bar the shouting ‘wooooo’ by 10pm so we were home in time for a hot chocolate before bed ;-)
