Happy days.
Wore my Scotland Rugby 2021-22 hat with pom pom this morning when we dropped off a couple of things to a Covid19 isolator. It’s ideal for cold days and rugby terraces - many were worn at Murrayfield today I’m sure.
Main event of our wet day was watching Scotland Rugby v England at Murrayfield in 2022 Six Nations Tournament. Plenty of chat throughout with our sons in our respective homes. A full stadium. And a game that played on until 84 min. Scotland won 20-17 to lift the Calcutta Cup again. Last year they beat England at Twickenham, where they won for the first time since 1983. Today was their first back-to-back Calcutta Cup win in 38 years, last time was 1984. They won the Cup in 2018, retained it by a draw in 2019, won in 2021 and retained by the win today - phew! Leading at half time, winning at final whistle. They won on Defence. On Heart. In Self Belief. And Determination in big moments. It was Townsend’s 50th game in charge. Great credit to him, the back room teams and the winning team. Happy days.
