Life in Sunny Dubai

Quality

On the day that Beijing had the opening ceremony for the 2022 Winter Olympics, I ironed G's London 2012 t-shirt, and I can't get over the quality of the transfer. Ten years on, it still looks brand new. Excellent for something bought in Sainsbury Sava Centre. Too bad the cotton fabric can't keep up! G should probably retire it and keep it for posterity!

I didn't go out at all today. I hoped we might have managed another visit to EXPO 2020 after G came home from work, but there is lots to do here. At the top of the list is getting our eLife fixed. The set-top box has malfunctioned from the time we got it, but it is such hard work trying to get support from the telco we've just put up with it. It has now started to affect the TV itself, so after spending over two hours trying to speak to someone in customer service, I found a way to request a technician to visit via their app.

The technician showed up pretty promptly and went through a series of steps to diagnose the problem. He changed the HDMI cable, the port it goes in the TV and lastly, he changed the LAN port from the internet box (that needed further assistance from the back office). And if all that wasn't enough, he had to organise another team of technicians to come to look at the fibre-optic cable. It's been emitting an unstable signal that is too high. That's what was causing the problems with the TV.

The second crew came within two hours and re-spliced the fibre-optic cable. We watched about three hours of TV before the STB froze. ARGH. I had asked for it to be changed, but they have their procedures, so now I have to lodge another complaint. Here we go again.
