A Dog's Dinner

Nightmare on Elm Row....

.......no it wasn't.

BB and myself spend the evening with Bob Dylan. In the presence of The Maestro. Bob dressed like an extra in a 1950's mexican cowboy film, big hat, pencil moustache, trousers with piping down the sides - all in grey. The rest of the band in grey suits and ultra cool hats

Firstly lets get the bad stuff out the way.

He is the worst lead guitar player in the world.
His timing is appalling
His ear isn't accurate.
He can't sing in key.
The mix was pretty dodgy

OK

Now the good stuff.

He has deconstructed all his classic material turning them into hard edged rock themed tunes. You don't immediately recognise what he's singing then slowly you start understanding what he's up to. Wrong footing you, knocking out the smugness of the singalong. He's 68 so he can't do exactly what did in the past and why would we want him too? I've been listening to him for 45 years and I still buy his new stuff and I still look forward to the latest album.

I felt there was real integrity in his performance still trying news ways to engage the audience

Wonderful stuff. He is after all the real Bob Dylan.

** and the man who gave us the nod about the tickets got a really nice shot of Mr Zimmerman.**
