Family Memorial Day

All Things Bright And Beautiful . . .
. . . The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them everyone. . .

This was sung today.

Aunty Peg and Ella are ninety five years apart.  Peg is Ella's great, great aunty.  Today was the memorial service for the foresters last uncle.  It was organised by a group of cousins who in the last two years have taken it in turns to check in on Uncle Donald who was living alone and didn'thave children..  Today would have been his 88th birthday.  It was held at his rural property under tall poplar trees that he planted.  We all got to dig up daffodil bulbs to take home.  He used to grow them commercially.  Aunty Peg was Donald's sister in law and she is the last of that generation.  On the family tree the forester has 22 cousins and most of them were here today.  There was much working out of when did they last see each other.  The slide show in pictures went back to the early days of the family and it was interesting to reinforce the history we knew and fill in the gaps.  The forester's father and grandfather were nursery men and the growing things gene is strong in the cousins too.
