Heather

Rain all day, high 64 deg F, predicted low of 24 deg F, what a temp spread! Slept till 8 am since we had no commitments. The rain made hunting for a blip a chore. This winter flowering heather (not Scottish as far as I know but Heather nonetheless) is blooming by my front step but blooms are certainly sparse. I checked the plants out by hubby’s shed but they had even fewer blooms. We changed the linens, did laundry and other housecleaning chores. I prepared dinner (BBQ pork ribs, seasoned kale and baked potatoes) early while I was “alert.” Once I take a break in the late afternoon, I have no desire to make a large meal. Hubby picked up his meds and tried to find apple pie spice and Italian sausage for weekend meals. No luck, time for plan B. I shared the raw kale with my children who, like me, make the same Zuppa Toscana that Olive Garden serves. We’ll have to fold the clean laundry when it dries but otherwise, I anticipate a quiet night. Hope everyone has a pleasant and restful weekend. We had 130 new cases of COVID. Up and down, ready for 0 cases…. Stay safe. Thanks for the visit, stars and nice comments.
“Hurrah for the Highlands
I have trod merry England and dwelt on its charms;
I have wandered through Erin, the gem of the sea;
But the Highlands alone the true Scottish heart warms,
Her heather is blooming, her eagles are free.” —Andrew Park
