Coming in to land

A swan, yes a mute swan, Cygnus olor. In French - Cygne Tuburculé.

The Mute Swan is not always silent. It is called this because it does not make sounds in flight, all other swans communicate in the air.

The young are called cygnets, as you know, which is really close to the French name, whereas the young in French are called Cygnons.
