A Shark Called Banana
I found this little green shark on a walk and knew I had to incorporate in a surreal still life. I rather like the Daliesque quality to it. The background is actually my old focusing cloth from work. Back in my 5 x4 and 10 x 8 large format days you had to use a focusing cloth over your head so that you could see through the ground glass screen and focus using a loupe. You then had to load the darkslides with film making sure that the notches on the film were in the correct corner, top left if you were left handed, bottoms right if you were right handed! The focusing cloth was also weighted in the corners so it didn't slip off your head. Those were the days!
Made my favourite toasted sandwich for dinner today. Get a large ciabatta and cut it lengthways. Toast under the grill for a minute or so. Then slice some cheddar place it on the lightly toasted ciabatta and sprinkle with berebere (it's used in Ethiopian and Eritrian cooking - we buy it from Waitrose!) and wait until the cheese starts to melt. Then place slices of pastrami on top. Put the two slices together and then wrap in tinfoil. Bake in the oven (gas mark 6-7) for twenty minutes. It's divine!
