Nuthatch in Snow

A White Breasted Nuthatch is making the most of the seed tray. The birds are really going at it today.
This storm is like the ones I remember, and hated, many years ago. Now that makes me sound old indeed! There were Days and Nights of ice then snow followed by more ice-- making driving or walking treacherous.

I easily drove to the hospital for my lab work yesterday and some shopping for more birdseed!! Only rain until the afternoon. On my way home I saw how prepared the highway department was for the storm. Lots of dump trucks filled with salt and others parked and waiting with plows lifted at attention, like an army.
Then ice rained down all night with some snow mixed in. In my sleep, I heard the village snow plow outside my bedroom window at 4:30. It was incredibly noisy as it chopped through the ice. Woke me up in the dark for the day.
Now it seems to be steady snow falling that is trying to stick on the icy branches and pavements.
The birds are busy. I am watching inside keeping warm and listening to an Agatha Christie mystery.
