An ordinary life....

Happy National Golden Retriever Day…

D was up and off to play golf at Leven with Kenny, Stephen and Keith and his new clubs. A momentous day! Lol

I got lunch organised for Ele (homemade lentil and ham soup with cheese sourdough bread) and she arrived, slightly later than planned, after getting lost on her way to B&Q in Perth to pick up a chair for the kitchen.

She had planned to buy two of the chairs but was glad she’d opted for one as there’s no way two would have fitted in her car (excessive packaging) and she would have had one of those mortifying Ikea moments where you see people trying to fit wardrobes into their mini metros! :-))

After lunch the bulk of our conversation was about our holiday to Harris and Lewis. She and Kenny have never been and really have no idea what beauty awaits them. Can’t wait to show them.

When D and I holidayed there in 2019 we sailed from Skye to Harris and the crossing was calm and peaceful. This time we’re sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway and I am hoping the longer crossing will be just as calm. Crossing the north Minch can be pretty rough and Ele and I are not good with rough crossings. Many a ferry ride to France will testify to that!

D returned from golf very windswept! A challenging but enjoyable round by all accounts. Couldn’t have been that bad as he’s doing it again tomorrow in colder conditions (apparently with the wind chill it’s to feel like -2. He’s off his head keen!

My yarn arrived for the pram blanket I’m making for our friends’ new born baby so I made a start on that. Pleased with it so far although it’s gobbling up the yarn (it’s a closed pattern rather than open like granny squares) so may have to order a few more balls.

Had planned a lovely shot of Lola for National Golden Retriever Day and David had given her an extra brush so her coat was gleaming, but she returned very wet and muddy from her walk with R (like the scene in Calamity Jane where Doris looks beautiful picking flowers in the wood but returns home soaked and filthy after falling in the creek! :-)) Oh well, a shot of her beautiful, squishy face as she tries to negotiate her way into my lap (as she does at some point every evening!) shall have to suffice. Adore the bones of this girl.
