Brain Health
We all know what its like to have a poor nights sleep at sometime in our lives but just how important good quality sleep is for brain health is less well known.
Catherine de Lange explained in a New Scientist zoom talk this evening exactly what goes on when this happens.
Did you know that after the clocks go forward an hour there is a 17 per cent increase in road accident for the next couple of days?
She says we are all too aware of the need for physical health but only now are we beginning to accept the same applies to brain health if we want to avoid cognitive decline and dementia. The talk was based on her new book. Brain Power: Everything you need to know for a healthy, happy brain.
Much of it we already know- get a good nights sleep, avoid stress, eat a healthy diet, keep physically and socially active, and never stop learning. What she does is explain the latest scientific findings behind it all .
