We're talk-in' 'bout the dollar bill

Today I went into the office. 

S who works beside me said in a concerned voice, I set up a Euro payment today, but there isn't enough money in the Euro account to pay it. 

I sat for a second and looked at her, trying to make sense of what she said. 

Then I picked up my bank widget and opened up the bank. 

And stared at the €5400 balance, which yesterday had been 75 times as much.  I examined the transactions.  I examined the upcoming transactions.  Yesterday's balance versus todays' balance - and yes, there was over 400K missing. 

I looked at my currency trading platform.  Nothing.  Just in case I had clicked a button by mistake. Nothing.  

I called our Business Banking manager.   She said "are you sure the CEO hasn't moved something.  "I can't see any transactions", I screamed at her, " I need you to tell me that it is a mistake in the banking application". 

"I need you to phone the CEO and check he didn't do anything before i do anything at this end". 

And so it was I called my Big Boss, who was working till 3.30 am.  and had just woken up.   His reaction was the same as mine. 

It got worse as I glanced down at the other accounts we have and I realized that all of the money in the Dollar account had disappeared too. 

And that was much, much, much worse. 

I called the Business Banking manager back and told her that no, no one else had done anything. 

Then S said, "the last transaction through the dollar account is the same amount as the "current balance" showing". 

I checked the euro account too - sure enough, the two transactions which had cleared that day added to the balance. 

Someone had overwritten the script. 

I called the Business Banking manager again and she agreed, and said she had finally got through to technical who said "Yeah, phone has been nonstop this morning". 

They send me an email confirming bank error, and no fraud.  "what a relief eh".  

I emailed back and said "You have no idea the situation you put me in, at first I thought I might lose my job; and then when I realized I was about to have a heart attack, it didn't really matter. 

Do you know what he emailed back...

"you and hundred other customers this morning LOL". 

It took me three strong coffees and a good long seat on my sofa before I was capable of any work.

Then Himself text me and said, "You expecting flowers". 

Dang, I thought.  My Lover has sent me flowers, I so told him not to send them to the house. 

And then Himself sent me a photo of the Card..... 

They were from Luscious LeeAnne as a thank you for absolutely nothing at all.   I did it cause I like spreadsheet lady!!!  

But thank you sooo much. 

And that was my day. 

I should sleep well tonight.
