The Lady of Loch of the Lowes

This female osprey returned to the reserve near Dunkeld on Easter Saturday. She has returned for the past 23 years and is thought to be around 27 years old.

49 and counting... If she has a chick and it successfully fledges this will be her 50th chick raised at Loch of Lowes! Quite an achievement. She was wonderful to watch on her nest and the male visited a couple of times. One of the rangers told us that the male was proving himself to be a good partner by showing his ability to fish for food!

A cold day - woke to snow, but warmed by a visit to this wonderful reserve, osprey, beaver activity, lots of little birds and a mallard on - yes on to of one of the bird tables! Manners please...
