An opening in the cloud

It has been a grey day with snow/rain but at the last moment the clouds cleared and we were treated to a few moments of colour.

A stark reminder today of the danger of the mountains when the local train that takes skiers up the mountain was derailed by an avalanche. Incredibly, no one was hurt. Only the driver was on the train but if it had been the train 30 mins earlier the local school children would’ve been on it. The avalanche continued down onto the blue ‘populaire’ piste that most skiers take back to Villars.
