Family portrait (not the hills of Kashmir)
I stopped by Lake Bala to rest and munch my mutton sandwich, and noticed this large group trying to set up an autoshot, so offered to help. Immediately a big DSLR was pushed into my hands, followed by a compact and a tablet, all with requests for multiple shots. I did my best, and then asked if I could sneak a quick one of my own. To avoid risk of the group breaking up, I didn't go back to the car for one of my cameras but just used my phone, hence the poor quality. (I think it makes up the lack in feeling, though.) A couple of the ones I took on theirs may be better, especially when I got the children to wave their arms above their heads.
As I was taking this, one of the men said "I suppose this will be on Facebook soon?" I said "probably, or maybe on Blipfoto if it's good enough". As they broke up I asked where they were from. "England." "I guessed that, I meant where in England!" "Birmingham." "That's funny, when I asked the question I was thinking Birmingham." "Why?" "I don't know, I guess lots of people come here from Birmingham..."
I discovered the pleasure of hijacking other people's group photos years ago when I was touring the Angkor temples - you can sneak up behind and catch them while everyone is focused on their own photographer (as I did here).
