Hellebore
If Candlemas be fair and bright
Winter will have another fight
If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain
Winter will not come again.
It's Candlemas today, also Imbolc in the Pagan calendar, so if you didn't take your Christmas decorations down on or before Twelfth Night you have to do it today.
Today marks the mid point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere anyway). You can certainly appreciate the extra light now. We've had bright sun and now some threatening rain clouds so I'm not sure of any kind of weather prediction but at 12° it must be one of the mildest early February days.
Busy as usual on a Wednesday with childminding. In between times I'm trying to attend to some Community Council stuff and of course blip. Cameraman is kindly listening to songs from Frozen with the two year old in an Elsa costume. I'd better go and take my turn.
The blip is the one and only hellebore in the garden. It's doing its best. Don't view large. it lost focus right in the centre.
