Giz
The main lingering work-related challenge revolved around Microsoft OneNote and how to back it up. Microsoft has such a stranglehold over the working lives of countless millions of us. I did not find a clear solution so fear I will lose a few years’ worth of notes. However, life goes on and Maputo was sunny and hot. I’m not working now until the second week of February. Marvellous!
I learnt from Ilídio today that the word for chalk in Portuguese is giz. It’s a good job that Portuguese isn’t a standard language taught in UK high schools, given the tendency of teenage boys to find anything like that desperately funny.
