Boutonniere

Life has a lovely way of balancing itself out sometimes and no where was this more in evidence than today, when I awoke to the sight of my Boutonniere (yeah, that’s right: I learned a new word) bathed in light as the sun streaming in through the window only to finish the day with the rain spattering against another.

To my utter amazement, despite the many wines and beers from the day before, I felt absolutely fine this morning! The voice was a little croaky, but other than that I was in good shape as I gathered my belongings and helped pack away the last of the wedding stuff including some flowery table decorations, which the bride and groom kindly gave to the local pub who had only opened early to accommodate a hungry morning-after-the-night-before crowd.

There was a lot of us who stayed and booked for breakfast and gathering together like that to laugh, joke and review some of the photos from the previous night’s singing and dancing was the perfect way to finish a flippin’ brilliant weekend. Special props to the Best Woman owning her hangover and entering wearing a sheepish grin underneath a fabulous pair of shades.

With a cracking fry-up demolished and hugs delivered to friends old and new, I hit the road and made it back home around three.

The house was cold, empty and a complete bomb site, so still buzzing I spent the next few hours packing (again) and marching stuff up the road to what will be our lovely little temporary home for the next few weeks. Doing this whilst a storm was in full effect with the rain lashing my face may not have been the best idea, but to be honest I was still feeling so good that I could not have cared less!
