Flowering Kale
I forgot to take a photo when we went to visit our friend who lives in Lake Oswego, right on the Willamette River, so I stopped when I saw this pretty flowering Kale,
We sat inside by the 100-year-old fireplace, talking about 40-year-old memories with our longtime friend. We were shocked when she told us that she had sold the house and was moving to a newer place closer to her sisters, but it made sense when she explained her reasons. Her husband died almost a year ago, and she wasn't happy in this house without him; the large lot was too much work for her. She didn't put it on the market. Someone approached her because they wanted to live in her area and heard she was thinking of selling. They offered her an outrageous amount of money so that she could buy a fabulous new house on one level; the sale is already final, and her new home is closing next month, but she held out so that she could stay in the place until May. It will be nice for her to move the smaller things slowly and have the movers only take the big stuff. Moving is not easy for anyone, but it is a struggle after a certain age...we have accumulated way too much stuff, and we have to go through everything to make sure we don't discard anything we might need?
