One swan aswimming

Late afternoon we went over to the ruins of Waverley Abbey to get a photo for Derelict Sunday (see extra). However this beautiful swan distracted my camera; the photograph made quite poignant by the notice pinned to the gate nearby (see extra). I think many people feed the swans and so they are comparatively tame - this one seemed quite happy to pose for the camera. So it makes the senseless shooting of one of the other swans by a thoughtless hooligan a particularly egregious crime.
