Monkland
A very windy night and morning, but it eased off a little in the afternoon and so I decided to drive over to Coatbridge and have a wander around Drumpellier Country Park.
On my way over, however, I changed my mind and, rather than use the main car park at the visitor centre, I parked at the eastern (Blair Road) end and walked along the Monkland Canal instead. A walk along the main towpath brings one to a crossing (pictured) where the Canal disappears underground, never to reappear above ground (westwards at any rate). The path back along the other side of the Canal is a rather muddy affair but hey-ho who doesn't mind a bit of variety from time to time?
