If . . .

. . . you have your heart set on beach photographs and your wedding is in January, you might have to be ready for poor weather. At least it wasn’t raining . . . but it was still very, very windy, and so cold. (Notice there is no one else down there!) They seemed to find it quite funny when the dress blew about all over the place, so that’s okay. You can imagine the comments in years to come when they look at the photos.

Incredible winds this morning, which put paid to any plans we had. So we had a long, leisurely breakfast at the lovely cafe in Spanish City - books and papers were read.

In the afternoon we set off for Newcastle and Sage Gateshead again. This was to be a performance of ‘Lost Words: Spell Songs’. However, we got there (very early as we were going elsewhere beforehand) to find it had just been cancelled because of ‘damage caused by high winds’. We were disappointed, but it is really sad for the Sage, as these concerts mark their re-opening - a cancellation because of wind is the last thing they needed after everything.

So we are back at the hotel and hoping for less wind in the morning so we can walk by the sea before setting off for home.

Last night was splendid! A fabulous orchestra, a flamboyant pianist and an exciting programme. Tonight would have been very different, I just hope they manage to re-schedule and we can get to it eventually.
