Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?

My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,

A fun day here in Paraparaumu. And of course Loulou and Tiger were behind it.

Caro and I had enjoyed a fairly low-key day. Caro went to get her booster* and I did some shopping. We were then planning on enjoying a couch day of tv and naps when the word came through that the pair were planning another evening swim.

It sounded like fun so Caro got her togs and shortly afterwards some hoon** blaring Aussie rock music from his car pulled up outside.

"They're here!" said Caro.

Yes. It was Tiger. He was playing his "Aussie Rock" playlist of which I knew nothing of course. But Caro was another matter.

"Classic!" she said. And immediately joined in with Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel. Meanwhile, Loulou was power-drumming in the back with me. "Sorry," she apologised. Then carried on drumming.

I asked her how her week had been and she explained she had been very happy and very busy. This is Loulou. She is always bubbling over with happiness and exuberance, and is at her best when puttering about with projects. "And then I did an embarrassing fashion photo shoot," she sighed.

What?

She explained that she makes her own clothes, and like her Instagram peers, she then takes pictures to show what she's done. "But I'm a terrible model," she sighed. "I always look weird and awkward. Like there's a shot of me - I don't know how I did it - where I'm facing front and my head is facing front but somehow I've done this thing with sticking out my my pelvis so it looks like a bum. So it looks like my bum is in front too."

Now I really want to see this picture.

We got to the beach where it was kind of windy. Tiger headed straight into the water, but Loulou and Caro were a bit more cagey. Eventually they made it in there, but there was a lot of shrieking. Apparently. This is what Tiger told me when they got back.

"If you had nipples, you'd understand," said Loulou to Tiger. "Oh... wait... you do have nipples."

"I've got more than you, love," replied Tiger*** and Loulou nearly choked laughing.

She was in such a bubbly mood and danced about within an impromptu stage that someone had constructed on the beach by forming driftwood into a rectangle. "We should play CHARADES!" she suggested. "Or... or.... WAR WRESTLING!!"

Tiger looked bemused. She illustrated what she meant by picking up a big piece of driftwood and walking along a log that someone had dug a trench under. See today's blip. The next thing I knew, the pair were fencing with driftwood and then everyone had to take turns walking along the log with the driftwood.

See what I mean? High spirits. I blame the Aussie rock.

Speaking of which, we then headed home to the strains of Boys Light Up by Australian Crawl and Run To Paradise by Choirboys but it was Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again by The Angels that really got them all going. Basically, the lyrics go like this:

ANGELS:                           Went down to Santa Fe
                                           Where Renoir paints the walls
                                           Described you clearly
But the sky began to fall
Am I ever gonna see your face again?

CARO, LOULOU, TIGER: NO WAY!
                                           GET F*CKED!
                                           F*CK OFF!

ANGELS:                           Am I ever gonna see your face again?

It's a bit like Living Next Door To Alice****  if you like. And it had the three reprobates in STITCHES. "I feel like a hoon," said Caro. And no wonder. She had joined them.

"I'm OVERFLOWING," said Loulou when she dropped us off. "I'm just SO HAPPY!" And it was true. You could see it, she was so giggly and delighted. Tiger and Loulou are our favourite people to be around and this is why.

When we eventually got back to our couch we were equally overflowing. The only programme we could possibly watch after a day like that was "Peacemaker", about the comedy adventures of a d*ckhead superhero from The Suicide Squad, accompanied by his pet eagle, Eagley. And if you want to know WHY that show is perfect after a day at the beach, hooning around with Tiger and Loulou, then you need to watch the opening credits

* We are not quite yet at the 4 month point when the govt recommends we get boosted, but Caro is getting it early because she's immune suppressed.

** Kiwi word, meaning someone who wears a singlet, drives too fast, revs too loud and steers with one hand while drinking beer with the other. From what I understand.

*** Loulou's nip has not yet been reconstructed. That's planned for later this year, I believe.

**** Alice? Who the f*ck is Alice?
