SORTING OUT ON SILLY SATURDAY

Hello Lovely Blippers,

You may remember that we were hoping to go out in the garden today, but it has rained overnight and it is very windy this morning, so we decided to stay indoors. We just worry a bit about Hoggy, and hope that he is warm and comfortable in his little hibernation hidey-hole.

We were wondering what to do this morning, and of course, you know Mrs. HCB likes to do something on most Saturdays in memory of dear Admirer, when we heard Mr. HCB saying to Mrs. HCB that as it was so wet outside, he thought he would stay in and do some sorting out.  Of course, Mrs. HCB was delighted, as she has been trying to get him to do this for a very long time.

Mr. HCB was once a keen philatelist and what has spurred him on is that he found the DEBRA charity shop in Old Town is very happy to take some of his old stamps because someone calls in there and gives them a fair price for them, which of course, is a win/win situation, for the man who buys the stamps and for the charity shop.

At the moment, Mr. HCB is sorting out stamps from all over the world, but it is a very true saying that “Anyone who can read never sorts out an attic!”  We know that this is not an attic, but one of their bedrooms that has been converted into a special room for Mr. HCB, but I’m sure you get the drift.  Already, Mr. HCB has found a very old newspaper cutting about one of the Channel Islands - for many years he was an avid collector of all things from the Channel Islands - and still collects books from there.  He also found a notepad and some photographs taken at Raffles Hotel in Singapore, where Mr. and Mrs. HCB celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary.  So many memories from a long time ago!

We kept hearing Mr. HCB say to Mrs. HCB “Come and have a look at this” or “Goodness me, I didn’t realise I still had that!”  You can see that Mr. HCB is wearing his new glasses with the neck “thingy” Mrs. HCB told you about yesterday, and he says it’s great, so thank you again to Kate at Leightons.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend - stay safe and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Love from
All of us in the Silly Saturday Gang xxx
