Avocado lunch
There's only one way to eat an avocado, and that's cubed in the skin with Worcestershire sauce. I learned this half a century ago when I spent some time with my godmother in her St John's Wood apartment in London.
She was of mysterious European origin and, by profession, a psychiatrist. When I knew her she was in her 70s, still working, and shooting around the city in her British Racing Green Triumph Spitfire - that was, for a boy, the best fun.
Her flat was quite spacious, but the kitchen was a tiny galley arrangement where we'd sit on bar stools and eat. Avocados always bring her fondly to remembrance.
