A trip to RHS Bridgewater this morning. Since our last visit lots of preparations for the coming Spring have been taking place. The gardens offer a masterclass in mulching. We need to up our game.

We made some small purchases as we left, and I asked the lady at the till how things were going. Last summer was mega busy, and they expected that it would go very quiet over the winter. It hasn’t. It was evident to us that on a weekday there are plenty of retired people visiting, but also lots of couples or families with toddlers. And it’s also apparently attracting women on their own who feel it’s a safe environment to be in, and the café is attracting some as a place to sit and work at the laptop.

It would be fascinating to compare the original transport and visitor forecasts with the present reality, and how it evolves as time goes by.
