Holocaust Memorial Day

This is a photo of the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin - also known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe - which I took in 2006. It was inaugurated in May 2005 - sixty years after the end of the Second world war. Walking through the monument I felt uneasy and moved, I remember, and I thought of the visit again today.
A rabbi on the BBC news this morning said a recent survey of 'Holocaust awareness' revealed 52% of the UK population didn't know that 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis. We need to make sure we educate our children and grandchildren better than that.
