Sent the first availability list out this morning for this year.We soon had orders coming in and we have done a couple ready for delivery tomorrow.The first one litre perennials have started to go out.

We have ordered our first totally peat free compost in today.We will be trialing it alongside the peat reduced that we use now.

I am not convinced on the credentials of peat free.Coir is the main ingredient and shipped in from some place that grows coconuts then mixed with wood fibre from trees cut down and shipped from Canada.Extra fertiliser is used above the amount that is needed in a peat based compost to counter the lock up of Nitrogen.We are told that we will have to water and apply liquid feed more frequently.

Still if it keeps the Guardian reading chattering classes who believe every utterance from the BBC happy it is the way we have to go.
