Are scones an ‘old people’ thing?

Sitting in Dobbies garden centre having tea with the most delicious scone with cream and jam and I looked around to see most people there were over 60 and most of them were eating scones.
Do little children eat scones like we used to, or do they prefer muffins and chocolate cake? Do their mummies make scones for them? This is a serious question. If it is that they prefer cake, once this generation has gone, will scones die out???
