Into the Mystic!

this is a 10" x 10" cradled board with a few layers of cold wax and oil.....it was looking ok, but just not quite done!  So i added a bunch of oil pigment sticks....they are just so easy to work with!  Feeling happier with it now.  But the downside of pigment sticks is the odour they give off....these Paul DeMarrais oil sticks aren't as bad as the most common ones made by R & F, they really have a nasty smell....they are also very expensive.  I found this brand about a year ago and haven't used them much, but now i love adding them to a painting that has a few layers and just needs that extra bit of juice!

A sunny sort of day....and not as cold...only -3!  Spoke with a friend who lives in Muskoka, where i used to live....it was -34 the other day!!!  I do remember those days for sure and i don't miss them at all!
