Gathering

Today was the rescheduled gathering of the congregation at church to look to the future. What do we see as our Mission? What do we think of the consultation ideas of our local Presbytery which proposes a union with 2 other churches. In Edinburgh the aim is to reduce from 78 paid ministry posts to 48.5. What might that mean for us and how might we better optimise our buildings use.

Despite hopes when we rescheduled that we could meet in person we ended up conducting the meeting by zoom. Which worked very well.

Lots of thoughts and ideas ( mostly positive but a lot of ink will need to be used and words spoken before the future direction takes final shape by the end of the year).

This event has preoccupied me and several others in the lead up to it so the blip reflects the focus of the day. A good quote is worth it though.
