Portsmouth

Early breakfast then into Portsmouth for the day. We had booked to go up the Spinnaker tower.

Parked in the main shopping centre and did a brief tour of the shops and tourist attractions.

Visited the tower reception, had a photo taken (tourist gimmick) then in the queue for going up in the lift (only us in the queue). Got in the lift …. door wouldn’t close ….all out and lift engineer checked …. back in the lift and 30 seconds later at 100 metres above sea level in the view deck (350 degree view). Walked on the glass sky walk (OMG, mind over matter). Went up to the next view deck (60 steps) which has an open element.

After that experience, booked and took an historic harbour boat tour (managed to get 2 senior tickets, he he ). Good running commentary on the navel fleet docked, the Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier plus other frigates and destroyers as well as viewing the Warrior.

Stopped for lunch then did a mooch around the shops - bumping into our nephew and his wife! who were on a shopping trip.

Scenic route back to the hotel via the beach route.

Good and enjoyable day - lots of photo opportunities :)
