Carbis Bay Beach

Walked to Carbis Bay. Had a play on the beach. Walked home. That took us almost 2 hours but Ann wanted to tire me out because we're leaving St Ives tomorrow so I will be sat in the car for at least 6 hours. We're staying overnight with 'Alfie the Beardie' and then will have another 6 hour drive the following day.

How Ann wishes that St Ives and Edinburgh weren't so far away from each other. It would be lovely if we could just pop down here for a few days whenever we felt like it. Oh well, heyho, it is what it is I suppose. Apparently if she didn't have me, she'd just fly down every now and again. But she does have me and obviously I am a very important part of her life.

Anyway, we hardly ever go to 'Carbis Bay Beach' because it's become far too 'exclusive'. It was where the G7 summit was held last June. Even the access to the beach is a bit of a mystery unless you know where you're going. You have to walk through a very posh terraced area to get there.

Ann's just been looking through her Blips to see if she could find a photo of how it used to look and she found this one from 25th February 2011. See here. Years ago it was her 'go to beach' when she was short of time and wanted to tire out 'MollyCollie'. Years ago (in the winter) you could park for free right next to the beach. But now the car park and all the beach huts have gone and have been replaced by these 'lodges' and you have to pay to park in the weeny, teeny car park, so more often than not there's no room in the car park anyway.

Ann's just done a search to see how much it would cost for herself and me to stay in one of the 'Carbis Bay Hotel lodges'  for three days in January. The cheapest she can find costs more than £1,700 and that's only for Ann. I don't think I'm allowed???

Anyway nothing stays the same forever........................

The rest of the day has been taken up with me having snooze time and Ann getting our house ready for our next visitors, who are coming to stay for three days at considerably less than £1700.  If anyone would like to stay, check out Seaside Dream, St Ives here. You won't get 'fluffy bathrobes' but you will get your own designated parking space, you'll have sea views and you can bring your pooch for no extra charge. Oh and unlike the 'Carbis Bay Estate', you will be able to walk into town/the beaches in 5 mins. Might take you 10 mins to get back, cos it's all up hill. But even if you get a taxi every time you go out, it's still going to be a lot cheaper than paying more than £1,700 for a three day stay at the 'Carbis Bay Estate' when all you can do there is sit looking out at the sea??!!

Just saying. Lol!!!
