Glorious Glory Tree

Purple is one of my favourite colours. In April, when the Tibouchina tree is in full bloom, I have plenty of purple to indulge in.

The Tibouchina (or Glory Tree) is a rain forest native, originally from South America but naturalised in sub-tropical Australia. Each flower is around 15cm across and they have a wonderfully velvet texture. Right now, Tibouchinas are smothered in blooms so that the foliage is almost covered - a glorious sight!
