Owen Valley

Kiwilizzie and I had a lateish lunch at the Red Barn and then carried on out of town on a blip hunt. We ended up at the Owen Valley road end.

The paddock at the end had lots to see and photograph - a creek, stones, birds, trees, an old animal skull, thistles, berries, mushrooms - all of which I took photos of. But my favourite is this capture of the end of the valley and the fresh snow dusting the mountains. You can see that all the introduced species are feeling the effects of autumn while our evergreen natives are the usual rich blue/green shades.

It was quite an effort and took a bit of playing around with setting to get any definition in the sky at all so although it's fairly overexposed here it is better than any of the others I took of the same view.

We found it so pretty that we plan to go back next week for a bit of hiking. However, with the subject of Kiwilizzie's blip in mind, we will be taking great care to stick to the track and making sure someone knows where we've gone and when to expect us back. You can never be too careful.
